Decency And The Sex Slave Trade Essay
The frequent cry which is heard from varying audiences all over the nation gives good reason for deep concern. What ever happened to decent entertainment and viewing for individuals, families and friends? Constitutional indifference is cited as one of the main problems as increasingly, it is becoming a grey area in the aspect of decency. Ultimately, it cannot be the lack of specificity in the constitution that should be blamed. As a whole, the broadcasting industry has a major moral and social responsibility to play. Working in hand with the law makers, it would be in the best interest of the nation to have more constitutional precision when it comes to defining levels of decency acceptability especially in the best interest of the younger generation. These are the future of this country. Comment 2 It is all well and good to be having debates and news stories capturing the sordid activities perpetuated by sex slave traders who reap benefits from such a terrible occupation. The reality of the matter is down to how practical measures have been put in place to combat the negative impression created by those industries that thrive on the weaknesses and degradation of women majorly and families of gamers. For one thing, promising a better lifestyle for women from minority backgrounds globally through sex slavery is inhumane and utterly despicable. The Gaming Commission has a lot to offer through the application of stringent policies to resorts and gaming places, in the forms of casinos et al, in order to limit the negative portrayal of the entertainment which it offers ââ¬â indecent and highly degrading. With the increase in popularity of the gaming industry, the advertising and publicity which it currently fosters will only lead to higher rates of crime and vice stemmed in drug, alcohol and sexually-related perversion. Las Vegas for instance will only experience rises in discrimination against women, sexually-related abuse cases, higher divorce rates amongst other similar vices. Advertising is a powerful weapon of molding culture and attitudes in society either for good or for bad. The time is now to maximize its positive influence in this generation. References Goldman, A. Bowlbys Attachment Theory
Introduction For the purpose of this assignment I will begin with a discussion of John Bowl byââ¬â¢s theory of attachment, this is one of the most used theories in childrenââ¬â¢s social work today. I will then discuss the origins of attachment theory, with giving an overview of what attachment theory consists of. In addition I will critically analyse this theory by incorporating other theoristââ¬â¢s views. Further I will give a brief account of how Mary Ainsworth researched attachment and her outcomes and classifications, which strengthened and widened the theory. Finally I will discuss how this theory is used within social work settings, together with influencing policy initiatives . A brief overview is given regarding the ethical approach used together with its relevance to anti discriminatory practise. Bowlby initially began his career as a child psychiatrist, which later led him to undertake training at the British Psychoanalytic Institute. These early experiences contributed positively in Bowlbyââ¬â¢s research, which then led to the origins of attachment theory. This was his first empirical study to be undertaken. He examined cases of maladjusted children in a school. Bowlby then linked the children who were committing petty crime, also suffered with affectionless emotions. He then noted that all of these children had a history of separation and maternal deprivation Bowlby then proceeded to expand his research, influenced by Konrad Lorenzââ¬â¢s (1935) paper on imprinting. In which Lorenz researched behaviour of baby geese, where he stated is a phrase sensitive learning which is implied within a ââ¬Å"_critical periodâ⬠(Lorenz 1935). _Bowlbyââ¬â¢s research was then one compromising concepts from ethologic, cybernetics and psychoanalysis methods. Thus making him believe that, humans are also born with tendencies to naturally promote attachment. The main concepts which Bowlby mainly focused on was; monotropy a tendency to attach to one particular care giver usually the mother. In addition he stated ââ¬Å"_the propensity to make strong emotional bonds to one particular individual is a basic component of human natureâ⬠(Bowlby 1988). _He also goes on to state attachment ââ¬Å"aids in survivalâ⬠. Bowlby had distinguished four categories that consisted in attachment. The proximity Maintenance: Desire to be near the people we are attached to. Safe Haven: Returning to the attachment figure for comfort and safety in the face of fear or threat Secure Base: The attachment figure acts as a base of security from which the child can explore the surrounding environment. Separation Distress: Anxiety that occurs in the absence of the attachment figure. Ambivalent Attachment: _Where the child usually become very distressed when parents leave. This type is un common, normally a result of poor maternal availability. _ After Ainsworthââ¬â¢s research, (Main, Solomon 1986) added a fourth attachment style from their own research Conclusion
Lil Wayne vs Drake Essay
Music is something that everyone loves and some people go to music to calm themselves down when their stressed, angry, sad, or happy just in general. Personally, I listen to a lot of music, so Iââ¬â¢m choosing Lil Wayne vs. Drake. Lil Wayne thinks of himself as the ââ¬Å"Best rapper aliveâ⬠; & yet he is known to be one of the best rappers according to magazines, record sales, and etc. Lil Wayne is also in charge of Young Money Entertainment which is an American record label founded by rapper Lil Wayne. Drake is also rising to the top very quickly, but Drake is a part of Young Money Entertainment also. They both are featured in each otherââ¬â¢s song and a lot of people love them rapping together. They both rap about similar things such as, fame, drugs, money, cars, and women; however even though they rap about similar things. They have completely different ways of saying it. Wayne is more outspoken Iââ¬â¢d say and he is more straight forward with whatever message heââ¬â¢s trying to prove to you. Drake makes you think a little more about whatever message heââ¬â¢s trying to deliver. I actually like how drake phrases some of the things he says. Wayne focuses on his analogies more I believe when he raps, verses drake focuses on more just getting the message out. Wayne uses his imagination when he raps, but drake actually paints the picture. Iââ¬â¢d say that Drake has 2 sides to him; he has the rap side and he has the singing side. Drake is known for connecting with women through his songs, words, his real life problems, and his voice that almost every girl loves. Drake is more open when he raps and he explains to you how girls have broke his heart, how heââ¬â¢s had people doubt him in life and his music career, and he isnââ¬â¢t afraid to admit that sometimes life hurts. He makes you feel like he too has been in the same situation like heââ¬â¢s actually felt pain like normal people without millions of dollars do. Lil Wayne will talk about something seriously hearting him in maybe about 3 or 4 songs, but other than that Wayne gives you the image that everything in his world is perfect. He makes you want to feel what itââ¬â¢s like to have millions of dollars, and cars, clothes, women and etc. , but in reality itââ¬â¢s not really like that for the average person. Thatââ¬â¢s why more people feel like they can relate more to Drake, because he talks about real life situations and pain in a lot of his songs. Both, Drake and Wayne have been nominated for plenty of different awards on the different shows, and they have also won quite a few of those nominations, especially Lil Wayne. Wayne helped Drake get to the where he was at, he showed him a way and now Drake is so popular he probably would be okay on his own; but they all work together as a team, thatââ¬â¢s why theyââ¬â¢re all apart of Young Money Entertainment. In conclusion, we could keep comparing and contrasting both Drake and Lil Wayne all day, but in the end all that matters is that they both make great music, and they are both listened to and enjoyed by millions and millions of people. There so much alike in the end to where it would balance out anyways. They are a great team together and they are both very successful. However if I had to chose which one I preferred to listen to more, I think Iââ¬â¢d have to chose Lil Wayne, ââ¬Å"The best rapper aliveâ⬠.

Capital Budgeting Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Capital Budgeting - Case Study Example Introduction Investment decisions are synonymous to capital budgeting decisions (Peterson, 2000). Capital budgeting is a complex issue prone to past and future liquidity issues. Many expansion plans by corporations usually necessitate the mobilization of funds either from external sources or within the company. Either of these decisions have profound impact on the operational ability of the firm. External debt in particular may suffer from the influence of outstanding external debt, which may limit the amounts and nature of funding a company can add to its total credit. This latter situations describe the state of affairs at McKenzie Corporation, where the companyââ¬â¢s ability to raise outside debt is barred by conditions imposed on the company for a prior $14 million bond issue by the company. Consequently, the company has to rely solely on equity, which will incur the company $1.4 million. This report evaluates the company with regard to different economic climates. Expected Va lue of the Company The table below shows the value of the company without expansion and with expansion given the expected economic situations expected next year. Economic Growth EV (Without Expansion) EV (With Expansion) Low $3,300,000 $3,900,000 Normal $8,750,000 $12,000,000 High $4,500,000 $5,700,000 Total Value $16,550,000 $21,600,000 The expected value of the company without any expansion is $16,550,000, while the value of the company with expansion is $21,600,000. Clearly, the company will report a better valuation with the expansion than without the expansion. Consequently, the companyââ¬â¢s investors would fare better with the expansion as the value of their investment in the company would be more than $5,050,000. A positive cash flow is an indication of a viable business venture (Docsity, 2011). Expected Value of the Companyââ¬â¢s Debt, with and without Expansion The only thing that would increase a companyââ¬â¢s debt obligation would be the acquisition of further d ebt obligations. The value of the debt would remain at the same value of $1.4 million, since the expansion would be funded by using equity and not debt. However, the debt will be reduced by $14 million next year, since the bond gets mature and paid off by the company. Value Creation Expected from the Expansion The expansion of the company will increase the value of the company. However, the move will also incur additional capital expenses that require further adjustment (Drake, 2007) from the total value of the company after expansion in order to obtain the real value created by the expansion. Expected value without the expansion: $16,550,000 Expected value with the expansion: $21,600,000 Value of financing using equity: $4,500,000 Value with the expansion: $21,600,000 ââ¬â $4,500,000 = $17,100,000 Therefore, the net value created for the shareholders from expanding will be $17,100,000 - $16,550,000 = $550,000. The bond value would remain constant; therefore, the value creation for the bondholders will be $0. Price of the Bonds If the Company Announces That It Will Not Expand If the company does not expand, the price of the bonds will remain as it stands this year. The bondholders will receive the same amount of cash as before. If the company expands, however, the companyââ¬â¢

What is Romance Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1
What is Romance - Essay Example I plainly believe, on this ground, that one such element of huge significance is romance ââ¬â a mystical fuel or driving force within what constitutes the essence of love yet which possesses distinct character that enables us to distinguish one relationship from the other. Despite the mystery of how it works, romance is something humans readily perceive for it is, I suppose, designed to relish our senses and recognize the truth of love in-the-making. By experience and common knowledge, we take romance as it is in thought and act capable of emerging moments of lasting splendor due to which, we feel young at heart. It is not merely present and cherished by couples of opposite sexes, as I see it. Apparently, there occurs romance between any two critically intimate entities ââ¬â such as man and God, man and self, God and other creatures, man and world, or even mind and wisdom, as well as life and struggle. We may not derive strength from it on a regular basis but certainly, romance beats the dull and illumines a soul in gloom as we treat it an unseen worker of personal tale, an occasional spice of relief, a rainbow connection, a dancing reverie, or a starlight express in all aspects of living. Last week, I visited the Timken Museum at Balboa Park in San Diego. The painting ââ¬ËMrs. Thomas Gage, 1771ââ¬â¢ by John Singleton Copley especially caught my attention. Through oil on canvas, Copley seems to have managed his artistry to work on the fine details of the piece in the manner as to exude radiance of the main subject. In the overall view of the painting, hence, my critical observation led me to ponder that the chief task of his brainwork could have focused on lighting scheme. It appears that, besides the vital consideration of lines, curves, and colors that altogether formed the image of Mrs. Thomas Gage, Copley ensured that these visual elements were governed by the perspective of light, originating mostly out of the

Voluntary cooperation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Voluntary cooperation - Essay Example Investment trusts are companies just like any other company as they issue share to raise funds from shareholders, and thereafter invest that money. The difference between normal trading companies, and investment trusts is that, they invest their money in the shares of other companies. Contrary, they invest in physical assets like mobile phone networks and factories. The problem with the investment trust is that sometimes they deviate from fundamental policy without the approval of the stakeholders. In addition, securities sold to companies by an affiliated person acting as the principal (Larkins 428). In investment advisory contract, there were failures in obtaining approval of the board of directors or stockholders. As it has been noted by the stakeholders, that there were omissions and failure to present financial information, they should put in place devices to regulate such omissions. The companies should make sure that they buy securities from the principals and not the affiliat ed persons. Voluntary cooperation enables minimization of risks of life. The free markets relieve risks as much as possible by providing security against aggression. They foster it by allowing people to invest whilst enacting the insurance policies that allow people to pool and abate risks. In addition, voluntary charity is available; this enables the donation of resources to those who are less secure. Financial crisis, revealed a fundamental weakness in the pre-crisis financial architectures for managing, preventing, and resolving crises in the financial global system.
